Our portfolio of the week goes to Mike Harrison, an award winning freelance designer and illustrator who is currently based in London.
This talented creative has had an illustrious career working with the biggest and most influential names in the sporting and media industry.
Mike prides himself on his multi-disciplinary background, boasting a diverse portfolio. It is exactly this use of different mediums, taking influence from different movements and varying styles which caught our interest.
Some of the most notable work in his portfolio consists of covers designed for the global publication ‘The Wall Street Journal’ and the british ‘Sport Magazine’ as well as illustrations for ‘The House of Hoops’, the basketball retail creation of Nike x Footlocker.
Mike says that he is inspired ‘by the ever-changing environment of design’ and that he ‘hopes to produce work that inspires others’.
Let’s delve deeper into some of the work in this portfolio, first up is the Wall Street Journal illustration. Featuring some of the best athletes in the history of sport, the work places particular emphasis on Spain’s key midfielders Xavi, Iniesta and Xabi Alonso. ![Shadowed by ski jumps, FC Lahti warm up for their fixture with FC Honka during their first season back in Finland’stop division following promotion in 2011. The club was founded in 1996 after the merger of rivals FC Kuusysi and Reipas Lahti and last year was their only season outside the top flight since 1999.
The Lahti Stadium is used for football during the summer months and hosts the annual three day Lahti Ski Games among other events during the winter.
